Best of Engagements 2015 & 2016 by Sarah Bradshaw
Last week you saw Best of Weddings Part One and Part Two, and now it’s time for the Best of Engagements 2015 & 2016! And my goodness, I’ve spent some beautiful mornings and evenings around this city with some amazing couples!
Preparing for this blog post makes me so emotional. I meet couples during the booking process, but the engagement session is where I really get to know them, to see the fibers of their relationship. I see those tiny, seemingly insignificant things that tell me so much about the love between these couples. The way she leans into him when he stands strong. The way he subconsciously strokes her hand when he’s talking. The safety they find in each other. The kind of love that has endured deployments and loss, and blazes all the stronger in spite of hardship.
The engagement session sometimes seems merely functional (we need photos for the save the date!). But for me, it’s the beginning of the story— it gives context to a couple’s love, and helps me to place the wedding day in perspective. And it builds mutual trust and confidence, so when I step into the bride’s getting ready suite on her wedding day, she’s able to relax because I feels less like a stranger walking into the room and more like a trusted friend.
I’ve loved every single moment spent with these friends. Enjoy!
