The 10 Best DC Hotels for Getting Ready on Your Wedding Day
Where you get ready on you wedding day can set the tone for the entire rest of the day, and can make the difference between a relaxed, enjoyable morning and one full of tension and nerves! There is much to be said for the sweetness and comfort of getting ready at home, but sometimes getting read at a hotel is truly the best and easiest option. If that’s the case, here are the 10 best DC hotels for getting ready on your wedding day… plus an additional 10 to consider if the first list doesn’t suit your needs!
A few quick notes: if you want excellent photographs from the morning of your wedding, make sure your getting ready space has large windows, quiet (or wedding-coordinating) decor, and ample space for you and your wedding party to congregate without the presence of clutter! When in doubt, get a larger room!
1. Hay-Adams
Arguably my favorite hotel in the city for weddings, the historic Hay-Adams is about as classic as they come! Overlooking Lafayette Square Park with views of the White House and Washington Monument, there truly is no more iconic hotel in the city. The rooms are spacious and well-appointed, with comfortable furnishings. The decor is classic and neutral-toned, so there’s no concern that the background might clash with wedding day colors. And the hotel is on a city corner, so every room has large windows!
2. The Four Seasons Hotel Washington
Located in Georgetown, the Four Seasons Hotel Washington is the epitome of luxury. Featuring modern decor in a timeless application, the hotel suites are large, elegant, and comfortable with plenty of space for large wedding parties to dress and prepare for the day!
3. The Willard InterContinental Hotel
The Willard Hotel, dating back to 1850, is one of the most historic hospitality venues in the city! And just a short 6-minute walk to the White House lends ample opportunity for gorgeous photos!
4. The Wharf InterContinental Hotel
The Wharf InterContinental Hotel is only four years old, and has all of the modern fixtures, finishes, and services one would expect from a luxury hotel. Most of the rooms have full walls of windows overlooking the Potomac River, so the light is simply perfect!
5. The LINE Hotel DC
The LINE Hotel DC in the Adams Morgan neighborhood is a modern minimalist dream. A repurposed church building merges with new construction to create a unique and memorable space! The rooms are spaces with large windows, light-toned herringbone wood floors, white walls, and minimal decor.
6. Fairmont Hotel
The Fairmont Hotel rooms are spacious and comfortable, fashionably accented with plush velvets and soft grey tones. Located just outside of Georgetown, this hotel is easily accessible to Georgetown venues, while offering a variety of wedding ceremony and reception options in-house!
7. Mayflower Hotel
The Mayflower Hotel has a rich history… and a marble hallway that is just begging for a bride & groom to have portraits taken! Located downtown, this hotel takes up the width of a city block with entrances on two streets. A side street makes for easy transportation pick up and drop offs, and the rooms are lovely!
8. Sofitel Lafayette Square
The Sofitel Washington DC is a modern French-inspired hotel just around the corner from the White House… and might just the be most underrated on the list! It’s suites are large and luxurious, with fun details!
9. The Ritz-Carleton Georgetown
The Ritz-Carleton Georgetown is a reimagined historic factory building that now embodies industrial luxury. The rooms are spacious and gracious, and several of the suites have large balconies overlooking the city!
10. The Madison Hotel
A boutique hotel in the Hilton family, the Madison Hotel in DC has delightfully spacious rooms and elegant furnishings. Rooms vary in size, so be sure to secure a suite large enough for your wedding party to spread out!
