The Intentional Photographer: A Recap

Images Captured By : SARAH BRADSHAW PHOTOGRAPHYOoooooohhhhh, goodness. Where to even begin.

I taught my first solo workshop this past weekend. Leading up to Friday, I was half-nerves, half-excitement, and I could barely think straight, not knowing what to expect or how to best prepare for it all. The short-version: It was amazing. Long version: It went so much better than I’d hoped or planned! During prep, I was so concerned about not having enough content to fill the time, but toward the end of the second day, I was racing to finish up sessions in time for our Styled Shoot! I always forget how long-winded I am once I get started!

We spent two days talking about the WHY and the WHAT first, instead of the how for our business. Lots of questions for ourselves, lots of heart-examination, lots of “10 steps to”… and homework Friday night to prepare for Saturday. It was a lot of information, and I came home Saturday night more exhausted than ever before in my life. It took me until Wednesday to feel even half human again, but it was so life-giving at the same time!

A few quick notes:

Guys, I couldn’t have pulled off this workshop without Alex Meyer. Not only did she style the shoot on Saturday, but she was also my sanity, my bounce-ideas-off board, and the voice of reason to my crazy during the prep. I don’t think this workshop would’ve happened if I’d tried doing it without her. NO JOKE.

My husband Buck is the greatest support and cheerleader I could ever wish for. His steady care and encouragement is what made this workshop possible. Words can’t express how much I love him, or how thankful I am that he is my husband.

Pam’s studio was the perfect location for this workshop. Her create workspace is so life-giving, and her gentle encouragement and love for art make me want to cultivate more creative space in my own life.

And now on to the workshop itself!

Alex and I got there early on Friday for setup, and to photograph the space before everyone got there. The studio has amazing light, and Alex styled everything so perfectly. I could live here, really I could.

Tiffany McIsaac of Buttercream Bakeshop made the most amazing pastries and goodies for us to snack on all weekend. (Can’t WAIT to visit her brick-and-mortem store when it opens later this year!!!)

Just a few shots of me teaching— not the most flattering pictures, but I guess that’s what happens when I talk with my hands a lot. Ha.
