Sunrise Engagement Portraits with Cherry Blossoms in Washington DC
We met on a cold December evening at The Jefferson’s Quill Bar. Most of my client meetings follow a similar pattern— a few minutes of chit-chat, some time spent talking about wedding day plans, and answering a series of commonly-asked questions about my work, and talking through some of the logistics of the day to figure out the best wedding package for a couple’s day. But this meeting on that chilly Winter evening was different. The three of us talked and talked and talked, about everything under the sun and more, and then suddenly realized nearly two hours had gone by and we hadn’t touched on photography at all.
IT WAS LIKE THE MOST PERFECT FIRST DATE EVER.
So of course you can only imagine how excited I was for Pierce & Meghan’s engagement session. We planned to start in the Enid A Haupt Gardens, right next to their favorite museum (and also the spot where Pierce proposed!), and then move to the Jefferson Memorial, one of their favorite monuments. It was a perfect morning… and it was also peak Cherry Blossom season, which wasn’t something we planned for. They’ve known each other since high school, and their comfort with each other showed so clearly— Pierce delights in Meghan, Meghan finds joy in Pierce. Their engagement session was so perfect, and I absolutely cannot wait for their wedding with Kelley Cannon at Dumbarton House in September!!
