SBP Book Club 2017

Show me a family of readers, and I will show you the people who move the world. ~Napoleon Bonaparte

I love to read, but the older I get the more challenging it is to find make time to read as a matter of habit. Life is busy, and by the time I get to the end of the day all I want to do is collapse on the couch with my latest Netflix binge obsession and just veg out. Anyone else?

And yet I am firmly convinced that reading is important on many levels! Besides the benefits of continuing education, there are multiple studies that show how reading (especially on paper instead of screens) increases concentration, reduces stress, promotes more restful sleep, sparks creativity and innovation, and can even stave off the effects of Alzheimer’s! And it is one of the shared habits of the world’s most successful people.

Each year I set goals that involve books (one of my life goals is to read 100 books in the course of a year!), but I often struggle to follow through. This year I want to focus on business and leadership books, and thought 1) maybe I’m not the only person who wants to read these books this year, and 2) maybe I’m not the only one who wants some accountability  in this process!

So I’m introducing the SBP Book Club!

Our plan is to read one business book per month in 2017, check in to keep one another on track, and do a live discussion the first week of each month to chat about the book we just read!

Book list for the first 4 months:

February— “Living Forward” by Michael Hyatt
March— “Essentialism” by Greg McKeown
April— “Entreleadership” by Dave Ramsey
May— “The Power of Habit” by Charles Duhigg

I plan to start February 1st. What to join? Here’s how!

  1. Sign up for the Sarah Bradshaw Newsletter! I’ll send out monthly updates, reading plans, and help so we all stay on track!
  2. Join the Facebook Group so we can hold each other accountable! I’m planning to do FB live discussions once or twice a month to talk about what we’re reading.
  3. Purchase the books!
  4. Use the #SBPbookclub hashtag on social media to connect with others reading along!

I’m so excited to learn along with you!!

The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you’ll go. ~ Dr. Suess
