Monique Lhuillier Wedding Dress at The Biltmore Estate in AshevilleThe Biltmore Estate in Asheville, North Carolina has been inspiration for over a decade. Reminiscent of a French chateau or English manor house, it is the perfect backdrop for iconic wedding photographs with a classic, romantic aesthetic.
Jordanna wore Monique Lhuillier’s “Marbella” gown at The Biltmore House for wedding portraits on the Logia. Inspired by Edith Vanderbilt’s fashionable reputation and the shape of 1880s gowns, Jordanna chose an off-the-shoulder gown with a structured bodice, accentuated with Jennifer Behr’s Medici headband to complete her elegant bridal look.
The entire event was inspired by the Biltmore owners’ love story. George Vanderbilt married Edith Stuyvesant Dresser in Paris in 1898. After a monthlong honeymoon throughout Europe, he brought her back to The Biltmore House to begin their new life. The Estate staff and residents of Biltmore Village welcomed the newlyweds home with a 50-foot floral horseshoe arch that read “Good Luck.” We paid homage to that moment with horseshoe-shaped jewelry throughout, as a quiet nod to their love for one another.
Though George Vanderbilt was certainly a patron of the arts and an avid collector, The Biltmore House is mostly filled with portraits of family and friends, many by John Singer Sargent and commissioned by George. Given the popularity of Sargent’s work, we thought it only natural to display some key pieces of jewelry on a Sargent reproduction.
