Venue Spotlight: The Dewberry

As a destination wedding photographer, I have had the honor of photographing weddings all across the United States and beyond. I always love finding hidden gems that feel like a destination escape without having to travel across the world. If you’re looking for a Southern destination wedding venue without a passport, you’re in the right spot! Today’s wedding venue tour of a luxury hotel in the heart of downtown Charleston, South Carolina fits the bill for an elegant destination without needing to leave the United States.

The Dewberry is a fabulous, award-winning, and historic hotel in the heart of Charleston that perfectly blends mid-century design with quintessential Southern style. Charleston, South Carolina has only been growing in popularity as a vacation destination for couples and families and is a great weekend destination for bachelorette parties.

For couples looking for an elevated, one-stop shop for all their wedding weekend needs, The Dewberry checks all the boxes. The property is filled with southern old-world charm with modern touches making it an ideal choice to host all of your wedding events from the rehearsal dinner to the welcome party to the final farewell brunch to say goodbye. The ease of waking up on your wedding morning in your hotel suite, having your wedding ceremony and reception, and all of your guests right there in one location is a dream for some couples looking for an unexpected, but entirely comfortable and luxurious destination wedding location.

I love all of the unique event spaces available at this luxury Southern property, making it the perfect unexpected destination wedding weekend choice. Stunning ballrooms, a rooftop terrace with unmatched views of the city, and a walled garden mean whatever style of wedding weekend you dream of, The Dewberry will make it happen.

If all of that was not enough to inspire you to consider this unique gem of a property for a Southern destination wedding, the hotel has received recognition and been named a must-visit property by Coveteur, Travel + Leisure, Veranda, Conde Nast, and Forbes – just to name a few of their awards.

Please enjoy some photographs from my recent stay and tour of The Dewberry. If you are considering a Southern destination wedding in a charming city that’s easy for your guests to get to, I hope you will consider this luxury, high-end hotel property in Charleston, South Carolina.

While every detail at The Dewberry is thoughtful and intentional, perhaps my favorite space was the walled garden. It was so peaceful and a respite from the bustling city around the property.

If you are searching for an ideal destination wedding venue in Charleston, in the South, or along the East Coast, I hope you will consider The Dewberry for an unforgettable wedding weekend experience for you and your guests.

If a southern city wedding is not your ideal destination, perhaps the Blue Ridge Mountains is more your style. Be sure to check out my venue tour of High Hampton, a luxury mountainside lodge in North Carolina.
