London Update:

  • Baby girl is on the move!! London can’t sit still for more than 5 minutes! She’s crawling, pulling up, walking along furniture, moving from one piece of furniture to another, attempting to climb on everything, and occasionally lets go and stands all on her own. We’re taking bets as to whether or not she’ll be walking by Thanksgiving.
  • She loves to sing. She has a sweet, high-pitched voice and bursts out into song whenever she’s happy. I love her so much!!
  • She’s working on molars. I thought that she would get her upper teeth next, but she rubs her back gums, and I can see a couple of little bumps back there.
  • She LOVES her solid food. Sweet potatoes are her favorites (I mean, duh, mine too), but she eats just about everything. I make all our own baby food, and add seasonings that I think taste good (curry powder in butternut squash, butter and pepper on snow peas, garlic in green beans, etc).
  • She’s still sleeping well at night, and has kept the same predictable schedule for the last 5 weeks. I’m SO THANKFUL.
  • That smile!! Guys, she is SUCH a happy baby!!
  • She quit nursing on me about 3 weeks ago. Cold turkey, without warning, and no chance of going back. I tried working with her for a few days, but she would have none of it. I was really sad at first (I expected to have to teach her to wean, not the other way around), but now I’m SUPER HAPPY. I can’t tell you how freeing it is to not have to worry about taking pumping breaks on wedding days!!

Motherhood Update:

I gave a pretty thorough update in yesterday’s goals post, so I won’t repeat myself too much here. My heart is overwhelmed with joy at the sweetness of this season. And it’s also really, really stretched with the challenges of this season. We’re praying for wisdom on how to care for London, how many hours a week to pay a nanny, how to teach her, how to make time and space to just enjoy her, how to stay connected as a married couple so we can be the best parents possible. If there’s anything parenthood has taught me, it’s that I am absolutely not in control of anything, and that I need wisdom and grace far more than I ever thought.

Thankfully, God has promised abundant wisdom and grace. I am daily thankful for His faithfulness.

She’s such a sweetie! It’s crazy how quickly they grow and change and I can’t believe she’s already essentially trying to walk! Little overachiever like her mom. 😉
