St Patrick’s Day Wedding Inspiration Green Wedding Inspiration
Growing up, St. Patrick’s Day was bigger than Valentine’s Day. My father passed along his strong Irish heritage to his children— our surname “Danaher” is a distinct Irish name that features in the 1952 John Wayne classic, “The Quiet Man.” True story: I have an aunt and an uncle named after characters from that movie. William & Mary Kate, to be precise. My family loved to celebrate everything, and I mean everything, so when it came to St. Patrick’s Day, we went all out. Wearing a tiny little shamrock pin wasn’t sufficient. We wore green clothing. We dyed our milk green for breakfast. We at corned beef, cabbage, & potatoes for dinner. We listened to “The Irish Rovers” on repeat. And we ended the day with The Quiet Man, of course. Ironically, we found out a few years ago that all the Irish men in my family married German women— my poor father responded by saying, “But what do German eyes do when they’re smiling, or crying?” Regardless, we still love St. Patrick’s Day.
This day is celebrated by a pronounced use of the color green, which just happens to be Buck’s favorite color, and one of our wedding colors.
So many of my couples have used green in their weddings, I couldn’t help but take a little walk down memory lane and pull out a few of my favorites. Enjoy!
