She was a reporter from Connecticut. He was a Capitol Hill communications director from Iowa. At a reception one day, he offered her an “exclusive” story that he had already given to The New York Times.
He fell in love at first sight. She didn’t want to meet for a drink.
On their first date, she broke the table, spilling red wine and tapas all over the floor. She was embarrassed but he was impressed— they didn’t have to pay for dinner.
He moved to Louisiana, she stayed in DC, and they weren’t sure how things would work out.
But three and a half years later, they found themselves planning their wedding in DC with their Australian Shepherd Utah, who is about as crazy as their love for one another.
Kelsey and Luke hosted their gorgeous green and white summer wedding at the Inn at Willow Grove in Orange, Virginia. They got ready in separate cabins before their first look in the gardens, surrounded by gorgeous snowball hydrangeas. After their ceremony St. Isidore the Farmer Catholic Church , guests were welcomed to the Inn with cocktails by the pool filled with custom monogrammed black & white beach balls, before moving into the official cocktail hour in the boxwood-lined gardens.
The warm September afternoon was the perfect backdrop for their outdoor reception. Given that their wedding was in the town of Orange, oranges were a prevalent part of the decor; from the arrangements by Tourterelle Floral Design to nods in the invitation suite and reception signage by Just Ink on Paper. Since the couple’s Australian Shepherd, Utah, couldn’t attend the party, there were nods to the sweet pooch throughout the day, as well. After dinner and toasts in the barn, the couple and their guests ended the evening in a gorgeous draped tent dancing and celebrating the night away!
Thank you for the incredible vendor team that made this day so wonderful:
