Blue & White HydrangeaFloral Wedding Gown at Biltmore Estate

I photographed New York Bridal Fashion Week the Spring of ’23 and fell in love with Sareh Nouri’s “Hydrangea” gown during a private viewing of her collection, and immediately thought of Annie Leibovitz’s depiction of Scarlett Johansen as Cinderella. I knew I had to shoot it at the Biltmore Estate.

I considered how Edith’s story mirrored the Cinderella fairytale—Edith lost her parents at a young age, was raised by a strict grandmother, and was living with a governess in Paris when she met George Vanderbilt. Though not as impoverished and abused as in Cinderella’s story, I still imagine Edith’s awe when, after marrying George, she first set foot on Biltmore’s property. It would have been to her as if she suddenly owned America’s Versailles, a castle fit for a princess.
