I always enjoy getting to take pictures for a wedding engagement photo session with the engaged couples when I will also be photographing their wedding. It is a great time for us to get to know each other and for the engaged couple to get a little more comfortable in front of my camera ahead of their wedding day. There’s always so much happening on the wedding day, to say nothing of nerves and excitement, so an engagement photo session is the perfect time to connect with my couples.

Stuart and Melissa were a pleasure to photograph on a beautiful and ultra-lush spring evening in Washington, D.C. The golden hour glow and lovely botanicals made the gardens at Dumbarton Oaks the perfect wedding engagement photo location to begin their session in the nation’s capital. We ended the evening with a few iconic must-have D.C. engagement photos at the Lincoln Memorial and the Jefferson Memorial that they will be able to cherish forever.

In addition to capturing even more gorgeous photos for the couple to love, during their engagement photo session we were able to practice the poses that will work the best so we can create magic on their wedding day!
