Navy & White Mid-Century Toddler Bedroom

Follow my blog with Bloglovin

My friend Joanna just moved her family from a big (but problematic) home in the Brookland neighborhood to a smaller space DC, but asked me to photographer her son’s toddler bedroom as a “goodbye” before they moved. I love the dark navy wall color and the mid-century accents that she used throughout the room— she did a fantastic job pairing quality vintage pieces with more accessibly-priced pieces (which is exactly the thing to do in a child’s room, when you know things are going to be, ahem, “well-used”). I’ve had my eye on that San Francisco print forever, and it’s just as pretty in person as I’d hoped. I generally gravitate toward light colored rooms, but after photographing this room I came home and told Buck that we’re painting my former office (now play room) this color— dark, rich tones with warm floors and South-facing windows? Perfection.
