Our Home Tour: The Nursery

Home Tour: Grey, White, and Aqua with pops of Coral - Nursery for Baby Girl

We purchased our first home this past July, and have absolutely loved settling in and making it our own. We’ve blogged little bits of it here, and a couple of our projects here, but I still have a few things to finish in each room before I’m ready to show it all off. That’s how homes are supposed to be, right? A work in progress, all the time? I think I would get bored and make up projects for myself if ever it were truly “finished.” I like projects and “in process”… mostly.

The one room that IS finished is London’s room. We had a deadline for this one (helllooooo, due date!) that made it easy to finish. This wasn’t what we originally planned for this room— we intended to keep it as a dual guest room and nursery. But as we got into the process of setting things up and preparing for a BABY, we realized it just functioned better as her own room. So we sold the guest bed and bought a really nice air mattress for our friends & family to use when visiting us, and made this room all baby. BOOM.

I wanted to create a space that I enjoyed spending time in— because let’s be honest, she won’t appreciate any of this for years to come. I’m not a huge fan of pink, so we went with greys and whites for most things, painted the walls my favorite blue-green (which works for future kids, as well, boy or girl), and added just a few coral accents. I’m sooooooo pleased with how it all turned out! This book wall is definitely my favorite! We hung a picture ledge shelf low for all of her books, so she can access it when she’s toddling. We want our kids to love reading, so wanted books at her height!Home Tour: Grey, White, and Aqua with pops of Coral - Nursery for Baby Girl

We repurposed this Ikea bookshelf as a combination dresser and changing table. I’m SO happy with how it turned out!Home Tour: Grey, White, and Aqua with pops of Coral - Nursery for Baby GirlIsn’t this little wooden camera by Willow & Bass darling?? I pinned it on Pinterest before Buck and I ever started dating— and then I won it in an Instagram contest!! How crazy is that?!Home Tour: Grey, White, and Aqua with pops of Coral - Nursery for Baby GirlHome Tour: Grey, White, and Aqua with pops of Coral - Nursery for Baby GirlHome Tour: Grey, White, and Aqua with pops of Coral - Nursery for Baby Girl

My grandfather made this little rocking chair for me when I was a baby. I’m so happy to get to pass it on to my own kids!Home Tour: Grey, White, and Aqua with pops of Coral - Nursery for Baby GirlHome Tour: Grey, White, and Aqua with pops of Coral - Nursery for Baby GirlHome Tour: Grey, White, and Aqua with pops of Coral - Nursery for Baby GirlHome Tour: Grey, White, and Aqua with pops of Coral - Nursery for Baby GirlHome Tour: Grey, White, and Aqua with pops of Coral - Nursery for Baby Girl

The Peter Rabbit cup & saucer set belonged to Buck when he was little. So cute, right?

This could be in a magazine. I’d recommend submitting your pics. This room is indeed relaxing… and btw, ‘Harry the Dirty Dog’ is my all-time favorite book from when I was a little girl. 🙂

So proud of you, Sarah, you young ladies far surpass our maturity at your age.

  6. That was cool. I like it a lot. So accurate and minimalistic. Nice, what can I add here?
