Green Color Theory Editorial

Green Color Theory Editorial, Sarah Bradshaw Photography, DC Wedding Photographer

“Green is the prime color of the world, and that from which its loveliness arises.” — Pedro Calderon de la Barca

GREEN— the fifth in my ongoing personal project series on Color Theory!

For this shoot, I wanted a distinct retro vibe. One of the very first inspiration photos I pinned, back before I began planning the shoot, was a 1952 photograph by Frances McLaughlin-Gill featuring eleven different models dressed in varying shades of green. Exactly the aesthetic I hoped to capture for this shoot.

I wanted to capture some of the elegance and whimsey of my favorite decade— the 1950s. I love everything about that decade! The easy-listening music, the gentle curve of automobile design, the feminine silhouetted fashion trends, the carefree joy of television and movies from that era, the formality of entertaining… we even own a house from that era!!

This was my inspiration board:

I used Sweet Root Village’s painted green wall as a backdrop, and bought a faux grass rug for flooring. Kristin Corrigan was kind enough to come and help me style (and even made the savory jello mold. believe me, it smelled even worse than it sounds!!!).

Model: Samantha Nobles |  Stylist: Kristin Corrigan |  Hair & Makeup: Amie Decker |  Venue & Florals: Sweet Root Village |  Source for gowns: Riziks DC |  Strapless gown: Elizabeth Kennedy  |  Caped gown: Reem Acra |  Jumpsuit: Gal Meets Glam Collection  |  Shoes: Bella Belle Shoes and Nic & Zoe  |  Jewelry: Julie Vos  |  Hat: Asos |  Perfume: Tom Ford  |  Vintage accessories: Denise Brain Vintage  |  Rentals: Something Vintage Rentals  |  Cake: Buttercream Bakeshop  |  Papergoods: Emily Baird Design

And SO THRILLED that Gal Meets Glam featured this photo on their instagram!
