Buck and I are boarding a plane in just a little bit, heading out on an 8-day escape to Colorado for a much-needed vacation. It’s the middle of wedding season, we’re still not fully unpacked from our move last month, and it doesn’t exactly feel like the best time to step away from work. But that’s exactly why we need to get away right now.
You see, there will always be piles of laundry to finish. There will always be another work project to attend to. There will always be more emails. And during busy season, there’s always more editing to attend to. Aaaaannnnddd this blog is beginning to feel a little neglected— I fully intended to pre-blog for our trip, but it wasn’t as high on the priority list as editing (and there just wasn’t enough time). These things feel like they’re important, urgent, and necessary at every moment. But if we take a look at life 20 years down the road, none of those things will matter nearly as much as our marriage matters. Relationships last so much longer than work does, and Buck and I are working hard to keep them central.
So even though we’re leaving an uncomfortably long list of things left undone, we’ve leaving. And we’re excited to step away from the crazy for a few days and refocus on each other (and celebrate our anniversary!).
And in the meantime we’re missing this cute little face! He’s having a BLAST at my parents house right now— 5 acres of grass and trees, and two other dogs to play with. Gus has a hard life. Ha.
