I could tell you some other superficial things about myself— I love dark chocolate and red wine, I love DC for it’s grand architecture and rich history, I have a husband I adore, a strong marriage, a darling baby girl, a quaint old brick home, and a love for strong coffee & a good book.

But if you really want to know me, here are a few things that matter:

I never get tired of weddings.
I tear up at almost every first kiss.
I think pretty & styled is nice, but real life is beautiful.
I would rather cook for a friend than buy a meal out.
I care more about having a beautiful soul than a perfect body.
I cherish every lingering morning, and end every night with a kiss.
I believe marriage is one of the greatest earthly gifts anyone can receive.
I believe in telling your story, not my own version of it.

After a crazy, rollercoaster of a weekend (who knew moving companies were so fickle?!) we are officially moved in and mostly unpacked in our new home. And we looooooove it. It’s going to take me some time to get it styled and decorated like I want (and to figure out how to hang things on plaster walls), but […]

I love this image that Katy Murray took for me at Brent & Lydia’s wedding! A few weeks ago I blogged a few tips for second shooters on how to get hired for second shooting gigs, and what primary photographers look for when hiring second shooters. Well, today I want to flip that around a bit and […]

“I got into photography as a hobby awhile back. Then I started taking some portraits for friends, and now it’s a business. I’d love to get into weddings, but not sure how to break into that market. Some people have told me to start by second shooting, but I can’t seem to find anyone who will […]

This wedding inspiration shoot was part of The Intentional Photographer Workshop. After we wrapped up the teaching portion on Saturday, we spent some time photographing this gorgeous Styled Shoot… isn’t it lovely?! We used pale blue to reflect the tones of March and dogwood flowers and gold & warm accents to give a (hopeful) nod toward Springtime warmth. […]

Ooooooohhhhh, goodness. Where to even begin. I taught my first solo workshop this past weekend. Leading up to Friday, I was half-nerves, half-excitement, and I could barely think straight, not knowing what to expect or how to best prepare for it all. The short-version: It was amazing. Long version: It went so much better than […]
