Meet

My parents wisely kept our shelves well-stocked with biographies and historical fiction, and reading real-life stories made an indelible imprint on my soul and worldview. I learned that everyone has a story worth telling, and that even the smallest experience could change the course of a person’s life.

These stories gave me an unquenchable desire to document life— first my own, through journaling; and then others’ lives, with a camera. I held a deep belief that there were (and are!) beautiful and true stories of grace happening in the world every day, and those stories should be cherished, remembered, and retold, for the good of others.

I was an avid reader as a child. There were fewer things more pleasant than curling up in a quiet corner and getting lost in a story.

I pursued international nonprofit photojournalism before stumbling into wedding photography in 2008 and realizing it was a career perfectly scripted for me. Nearly ten years later, I truly believe I have the best job in the world.

I still find few things more pleasant than getting lost in a story— but now I get the privilege of documenting those stories as they unfold in front of me on a wedding day, as two people join their lives and begin a new chapter, together.

Back to "Yes, Please."

There are plenty of other superficial things I could share about myself— I love dark chocolate and red wine, I love DC for its grand architecture and rich history, I have a husband I adore, a strong marriage, a darling baby girl, a quaint old brick home, and a never-dying love for strong coffee.

But if you really want to know me, here are a few things that matter:

02

I believe even the hardest days have moments of joy worth celebrating.

03

I believe in honoring our heritage and leaving a strong legacy for our children, and that wedding photos contribute to both.

04

I believe love takes work, and that it’s worth working for.

05

I believe in lingering mornings, and ending every night with a kiss.

06

I believe it’s more important to have a beautiful soul than a perfect body.

07

I believe that pretty & styled is nice, but that the imperfection of real life is beautiful.

08

If I see something worthy of praise, I believe in praising it.

09

I believe in being the best businesswoman and entrepreneur I can possibly be— but I also believe that my husband and daughter come first.

10

I believe in giving my clients a finished product that will stand the test of time.

11

I believe that people are more important than projects, and that relationships trump the bottom line.

12

I think that sunlight can fix almost anything, and always sit on the bright side of a table.

13

I believe in slow walks and quiet evenings at home with my family, and never saying no when Buck asks to dance.

14

I believe in telling stories, because I believe every person has value, and their story is worth telling.

I believe in being the kindest person in the room,

even when no one else is.

I’ve said it before, but I mean it so much more now than I used to— I love photographing weddings because I love marriage. It is the best thing that ever happened to me, and I want to do all I can to help my couples grow their love and commitment to each other, because it really does make all the difference in the world.
